SEATTLE (April 1, 2015) – Omega Ouzeri’s first Greek Wine and Dine Tasting took place on St. Patrick’s Day and was such a hit we are doing it again to celebrate Kalo Mina – or Happy Month! Kalo mina is a Greek greeting on the first of the month to wish one another good luck for the month – kind of like Happy New Year but twelve times a year! Omega is starting the new month with a second wine dinner tasting with the hope of making this a new tradition on the Hill.

To kick off this tradition, Andrea Englisis of Athenee Importers will be visiting to talk about the wines that will be featured, Wednesday, April 1, beginning at 7PM. Seats are limited to twenty-four and reservations are required with a credit card to hold.

Food Menu designed and prepared by Seattle’s Thomas Soukakos and Omega’s Executive Chef Vironas Papatheodorou, with wine pairing assistance from Unique Wine’s Natalie Volz.

Dinner Menu includes the following dishes with Greek wine pairings for $80 per person:

Welcome: Domain Spiropoulos “Ode Panos” Brut

Starters:

PSOMI – Columbia City Bread, koroneiki Kalamata e.v.o. , marinated olives

YIAOURTI TZATZIKI – TZATZIKI : Greek yogurt, cucumber, garlic, dill oil

KESSARIA FLUTES – BEEF PASTRAMI AND CHEESE PIES: bastourma, kasseri, filo

Wine: Mercouri “Foloi” Roditis/Viognerwine bottles

 

Mains: (First Round)

OCTAPODI – GRILLED OCTOPUS:  Yukon gold potatoes, bitter greens, goat horn Chile vinaigrette

VLITA ME ANCHOVIES KAI KAPARI – BRAISED AMARANTH GREENS, fried  lemon and oil

Wine: Gai’a “Wild Ferment” Assyrtiko

 

Mains: (Second Round)

MOSCHARI FOURNOU KOKKINISTO – BRAISED BEEF: aromatic spiced tomato sauce

MANESTRA YIOUVETSI – BROWN BUTTER ORZO: mytzithra cheese

Wines:

  • Domain Spiropoulos “Red Stag” Agiorgitiko
  • Thymiopoulos “Uranos” Xinomavro

EKMEK KATAIFI – Shredded wheat fillo, pastry cream, mastiha whipped cream, pistachios

Wine: Samos “Anthemis” Muscat
